ABNDONED 4 - FORGOTTEN EXPLOSIVES LABORATORY

FORGOTTEN Explosives Laboratory
—————————————————————
ABANDONED 4

A week ago, we visited another Lost Place. This time we were in a former explosives laboratory. Unfortunately, this location was already very well known, especially among young people, an
therefore already looked very destroyed. Nevertheless, we took some nice shot.

Through a blog I came across this location. In 1908, a devastating mine accident occurred in the “Radbod” mine, which cost the lives of almost 349 people. Immediately after this accident, several such experimental laboratories were set up all over Germany. To this end, the underground gasoline lamps were abolished and replaced by new electronic lamps. The cause of this accident was an explosion of coal dust. One of the many experimental laboratories was built in the immediate vicinity of the “Radbod” mine. Here, a test tube measuring almost 200 metres was used to investigate how coal dust can generate a running explosion and how to prevent it. These test lines have been used to scientifically demonstrate that certain types of coal dust can cause running explosions in which the pressure wave of an ignited dust explosion continuously swirls up deposited coal dust and thus the explosion spreads through the underground lines, with the explosion pressure increasing. Research was carried out here until 2001. Explosives have been tested and underground security has been significantly improved. Now this place is getting more and more forgotten and is becoming a popular meeting place for young people.
