Materials: Acrylic paint, spray paint, memory foam, clay, newsprint, flour, plaster, wooden dowels, satin, tulips, sketchbook.
This work follows my investigation into healing, serving as a pseudo-prayer space to mend one’s relationship with the body. Drawing on the body’s memory, eclecticism, and metaphysical embodiment, these relics both stand in for the body and create a space for healing to occur. Pulling visual inspiration from religious artifacts and focusing on their ability to give bodies lasting meaning, I combined memory foam, rope, organic materials and plaster as surfaces for colour to be experienced in their environment.
