Art Month Sydney Festival 2021 Branding

2021
Art Month Sydney

Brand refresh & 2021 campaign branding, repositioning the not for profit festival and defining core identifiable characteristics to carry over for the next three years. As we ramp up in the future we’ll retain this conceptual thread; the starting point of the blank white page, the vibrancy and the expressive mark.

Art Month brings the city to life with a month of sharing and creativity for artists and the uninitiated alike. The identity centres on the creative gesture—the making, viewing and collecting of art as a creative expression and marker of our human spirit. For the 2021 campaign the white box, symbolically the blank page and the gallery, are playfully animated with paint. A campaign full of colour and movement, something a bit extra.

Importantly the festival gives equal air time to all its participating galleries and artists so the challenge was to develop a distinct solution that spoke to the creative spirit without featuring individual artworks themselves. Art Month Sydney is an important platform for us to not only showcase and hero great Australian art, but also bring a distinct and individual flavour to cultural communications—something that doesn’t feel Suisse or German—something that makes a statement about what Australian branding might look like.
