Summer Reading Club

Brief: Summer Reading Club
Client: City of Gold Coast Libraries

As a progression from a previous brief done for City of Gold Coast Libraries, the ‘Discover’ graphic element was chosen as the library’s identity for applications such as the Summer Reading Club. The Summer Reading Club is a promotional program for kids aged 6–12 during school holidays. The brief required the branding to be applied to presentation folder, passport, book review, bookmark and promotional poster.

Part of the concept was the design and creation of Danny the Dingo, which became the program’s mascot. The Australian dingo was trained by the Indigenous tribes that first inhabited the Gold Coast, to hunt and gather for them. Based on the ‘Discover’ concept of the library’s rebrand, Danny encourages children to discover what their library has to offer for themselves; to hunt something new, gather their resources and grow with what they’ve found.

With his explorer attire of a sun safe hat and his ‘Discover’ library bag, Danny the Dingo is the face of the program which will run over the next three years.
