En la sesión informativa se pidió diseñar un póster con ilustraciones, así como una pulsera y una tarjeta de acreditación para el festival Coachella 2019. Se requería un diseño contemporáneo, con la ilustración como elemento llamativo y exclusivo.

Para este proyecto tuve como referencia a Okuda, ya que me parece que su estilo se adapta perfectamente al espíritu del festival. Esto debido a que las imágenes que crea son llamativas a la vez que capaces de transportarte a una especie de universo paralelo surrealista. Asimismo, el espíritu del festival es crear un ambiente que haga que los asistentes se sientan en un sitio diferente a cualquiera en el que hayan estado antes.

Queriendo representar la universalidad de este festival en todos sus aspectos, tanto de colores, música, público, estilos, etc., he elegido la figura del astronauta como figura única y central del cartel.

A la vez, los colores elegidos son rosa, azul y amarillo como simplificaciones de la gama que nos recuerda a la galaxia. Estos con sus respectivas tonalidades más claras en contraste con negro y blanco para que estos destaquen aún más a la vez que dan sensación de profundidad.

The brief asked to design a poster with illustrations, as well as a matching bracelet and accreditation card for the 2019 Coachella festival. It required a contemporary design with the illustration as a striking and exclusive element.

For this project I used Okuda as a reference. In my view, his style fits the spirit of the festival perfectly. Indeed, the type of vivid images he creates are striking as well as capable of transporting you to a surreal kind of parallel universe. Also, the spirit of the festival is to create an environment that makes attendees feel like they are in a unique place, different from any other they may have been before.

Wanting to represent the universality of the festival in all its aspects, in terms of colors, music, audience, styles, etc., I chose the figure of an astronaut as the sole and central figure on the poster.

In addition, I decided to limit the use of colors to pink, blue and yellow as a simplification of the range of colors that reminds us of the galaxy.  With their respective lighter tones, these colors contrast with the black and white on the rest of the poster so that they stand out even more while giving a sensation of depth.
