Project brief

While many businesses are focused on finding ways to accommodate mobile technologies in order to compete more effectively, IBM understands that the real opportunity lies in the transformation of the entire organization into a mobile enterprise.

Building on top of its consulting expertise, patented technologies, and 10 acquisitions, IBM has created an end-to-end suite of products and services. However, IBM as a provider is still new to the space when compared to established competitors like SAP.

Barriers to enterprise-level mobility can be pervasive throughout an organization, from security to development practices, from data connections to availability. Given this, our approach to the experience will be based on the issues and needs roles face today.

I work with stakeholders, project managers, visual designer, copy, developer, and social business manager at IBM Design Lab under scrum and agile development. We rebranded IBM Mobile Enterprise to IBM MobileFirst and launched a supporting website during Mobile World Congress.

Strategic goals

1. Allow users to explore content based on their roles, industry and business needs.
2. Create an engaging and informative digital experience that can provide utility and also be used as a seller-enablement tool.
3. Redefine the DG experience to facilitate better quality lead generation and shift away from a quantity-driven approach.
4. Build a mobile-optimized experience that demonstrates the technologial competency of IBM in the mobile space.

Ideation & Process
It is important to understand the problem space for crafting a realistic and creative solution.

Define goal and scope of the project

Competitors Analysis

Stakeholder workshops

Idea Mapping

Run design studio to realize different perspectives
Concepting

After having an understanding of the problem space and target users, creative solution is the next step. To define core components of the project or service help shape the function in the project. When we discover the insight and observe the findings, we need to test and verify based on user persona and scenarios.

Specification

IBM Design Lab follow an Agile design and scrum development process, where specifying the design and building the solution in parallel, with testing and iteration at the core.

Prototyping

We use Axure to build clickable Prototype, which bring stakeholders' better sense and understanding. We also can recruit users to do user testing and then iterations.

QA
After production, we have to QA every details to make sure highest quality.
