“Magnetic Designer 4” by Lyudmyla Mysko, 2019, granite, 240x100x100 cm, Mosan Art Museum, Boryeong, South Korea.
One of a series of works under the general name "Magnetic Designer". This is an abstract composition. The project consists of 8 identical simple elements. I was inspired by my son's games. As he grew up, we often played together, creating many variations of new shapes from simple elements of a children's magnetic constructor. The combination of many simple elements can lead to an amazing new complex shape, and on an enlarged scale I saw a new aesthetic of monumental sculpture. This sculpture is one of a series of monumental sculptures called "Magnetic Designer" realized in Israel - Tefen Industrial Park Open Museum (2014), Vietnam (2015), China (2015, 2017), Iran (2016) and South Korea - Mosan Art Museum (2019) . In my sculpture, I continue my research on the combination of material form and air space and their balance within the best preserved original external shape of the stone block.
