“Solidarity” 2020

“Solidarity” by Lyudmyla Mysko, 2020, Carrara marble, gabbro, 160x100x60cm, Kyiv, Ukraine.
Concept: The sculpture is called "Solidarity". It is dedicated to the incredible solidarity of the Belarusian people during the protests against the falsification of the 2020 presidential election. This idea arose and crystallized during these protests. This is an abstract composition. Five identical elements carved from marble firmly compress a cylindrical object made of gabbro. This object symbolizes the idea for which these elements came together. If you remove at least one of the five elements of the composition will fall apart, the cylindrical object-idea will fall. The five woven elements also resemble the woven fingers of Protestants holding each other during riot police attacks.
