In a small and intimate Turkish village on the mountains, a hazelnut farmer dared to dream.

After our friend Adem told us about his story, we resonated with it so much that we instantly got the ball rolling to make a documentary about it. We made it as a two-man team called Mafa - an acronym for it's co-founders Mahmut Akay and Firat Ayas. What appeared to be a relatively challenging project soon seemed insurmountable when the pandemic occurred, making flying out to Turkey to film in a desolate village risky. Furthermore, the odds were against us with shooting on 16mm film for the first time and taking two video cameras, multiple lenses, two stills cameras and a GoPro with severely limited weight restrictions on luggage. Despite all the anxiety prior to shooting, we enjoyed what became the most beautiful filming experience of flow and creativity synergising everyday out there on the mountains.
