She Herself : Installation
Femininity is defined through the attributes, roles and biological growth of women. Often these attributes are socially and culturally constructed.
Through this installation I have created a composition with elements relating to femininity. The installation is based on how as a woman I perceive womanhood. It is based on my perception and questions I have had. I have portrayed them through few metaphors, colours and forms that I associate to femininity.

I had titled my installation She Herself, as it is my perspective as a woman on Femininity. I used thread as one of my metaphors to depict her commitments with people, surrounding and her emotions. Thread because it can connect elements and at the same time break easily.
There is a preconcieved notion that night is not a safe time for women to stay out alone. I used the sky as the background for the composition, titled Shades of Grey. The greys indicates the depth of dangerous situations she might face at night. I used a grid to create the sky which brings in dynamism.
Women's emotion and psychology is very diiferent from men's and at times its very personal. She might not express her feeling at all times. I made masks and placed them on plain coloured background which would depict an emotion. The coloured mask represents a young woman searching for
her own identity which would be unique.
Over the years the status of women in society has changed. Women stand up for themselves, work
and earn their own money, wear what they like, open to new challenges and rebellious too. At the same time they are also sensitive. The cactus is to show the rebellous side and the flower
which grows indicates the sensitive side.
Used the same grid system to creat an intereactive element. The grid contains a hidden form, people need to colour each triangle according to the colour coding. Once the whole grid is coloured a form would be revealed.
