Chicchetti

Cicchetti
Pronounced “chi-KET-tee”
[tʃikˈkɛtti]

Chichetti said to derive from the Latin “ciccus”, meaning “little” or “nothing” are small snacks or side dishes served in Venice, Italy. Similar to Spanish tapas or Greek-Turkish meze, chicchetti are normally not a part of home cooking but are served in bars/taverns called bàcari. Dishes include a wide variety of foods including bruschette, fried seafood, olives, polpette (meatballs in tomato sauce), arancini (stuffed fried risotto balls) and various other delicacies including local vegetables, meats and cheeses.
The photos are part of a personal project and aims to give a small glimpse of the food culture in Venice.
