Drawing heavily from design educator and researcher Joanna Boehnert’s study of ecological literacy in design, this visual research compendium contextualises ecoliterate design concepts in the social aspects of Singapore’s sustainability development.
“Sustainability” is a term that has shifted our world into a new paradigm. Yet, the value of sustainability has been so widely used and ambiguously interpreted that both consumers and designers are experiencing difficulty in identifying greenwashing from actual sustainable design.

Through this publication, the content guides the reader from an introduction to ecological literacy to an exploration of ecoliterate design case studies and applications of these ecological concepts with design methodologies.
An interview with Australian design repairer and investigator Dr. Niklavs Rubenis on the consumption and production of design concludes this compendium.
