FIRST SECTION:
Photography Journal
This section contains a portion of my journal and highlights some of the progress I have made throughout the course.
These are two of my first recordings for practical work from when I first arrived to school. The one to the right showcases one of a series of pages, in which I achieved a 'motion effect' by working with a slow shutter speed. The other contains the process of merging images using multiple exposure. As I progressed through the course, my work ended up improving over time; thus, looking more developed compared to the ones above.
The page to the left includes an explanation of what a photogram is, an example of an artist's photogram, a photogram I produced, and an screenshot of an article I found online which explains the process of producing a photogram in great detail. The page to the right contains my slide photographs, followed by my brief explanation and recording of the process.
The page on the left includes pictures from our visit to Lacock Abbey, where we put our cameras to good use by photographing the building. The page to its right-hand side contains a record of the process I went through to produce an abstract cyanotype; alongside with four artist links who used the same photographic process. The two pages look a little more elaborate due to the juxtapositions of the pasted images than the previous ones.
Visual analysis and recordings from a Dora Maar exposition at Tate Modern.
The image to the left is a scan of a piece I worked on in the dark room, where I merged two images together in order to produce that effect on my classmate's face. I scratched it and stained it afterwards for a more dramatic impact. The piece correlates to the visual analysis' theme in the page to its right, in which I analysed part of the "Rankin Destroy" project.
The two pages above contain photographs taken by my peers and I, visual representations of the process we underwent, and examples of light use in such process. The outlays, text and visual elements in the journal started becoming more concise at this stage.
These two pages revolved around our visit to Tate Modern. The purpose of our visit was to take notes for the Art course; however, some of Olafur Eliasson's pieces inspired me to take pictures in a partly similar manner for my Photography course. The page to the right contains photographs for which I used different lenses to distort my environment.
Colour theory in Photography, followed by my own photoshoot for which I focused only on the colour blue.
These are visual analyses of three movie shots, each one by a different film director. I examined the different visual elements from each shot and the message they encompass. All three display distinct visual metaphors represented in their individual style.
SECOND SECTION:
Practical Work From Home
This section contains a portion of relevant pieces produced with my mobile phone only from home.
These photos were taken with my phone. I experimented altering colour hues, luminance and saturation in this series. Another relevant aspect I decided to incorporate, was exploring distortion and reflection. All of these elements, helped me to better encompass the lucid dream-like effect I wanted to achieve.
