Discover Gold Coast Libraries

Brief: Library Graphic Element
Client: The City of Gold Coast Libraries

Since the City of Gold Coast rebrand, the Gold Coast Libraries sought a fresh graphic element for their livery to be applied to an array of applications including a calendar of events and an app. The element was to be unique to the library, raising awareness to the community of what the library's resources has to offer - "more than just books." With a target audience of every age group and walk of life it was important that the library's image meant something to people on the Gold Coast specifically.

The first people to inhabit the Gold Coast were Indigenous hunters and gathers. The 'Discover' concept derived out this history, encouraging members of the public to hunt something new, gather their resources and grow from what they have found. The graphic element represents a navigation symbol suggesting that the The City of Gold Coast Libraries is the discovered destination, enticing the target audience to explore what it has to offer.

My concept was chosen by the client as the library's future graphic element as well as leading to a further design of a children's summer reading program and applications.
