Year: 2021
Deliverable: Art Direction, Textile Design, Illustration

Furoshiki is a square piece of fabric traditionally used in Japan to carry, store, or wrap objects. It is used to wrap items of various shapes and sizes ranging from boxes, bottles, music instruments, baskets to many others. It can also be used as a bag to transport items. This project was to create a textile design for furoshiki with the theme of ‘Malaysia+Japan’.

The overall visual is presented in a pop art style, giving a sense of boldness and enthusiastic. Evoking a fusion of Malaysian and Japanese cultural elements with the concept of ‘Share the Differences’. The use of food that has the same shape in both countries for the border presents the harmony between the two countries.
