Zima is a lifestyle magazine published quarterly in London for Russian-speaking community. Its Editor-in-Chief is a legendary Alexei Zimin, former head of Afisha Eda magazine and Chef in a number of great restaurants both in the UK and Moscow.
In 2020 I was asked to develop a new layout for the magazine, as well as work on the next two issues. My idea was to design a magazine that looks British to a Russian eye, specifically the way Great Britain was portrayed in 70-80-s Soviet movies like Sherlock Holmes.
The magazine is set almost entirely in Academy typeface (Академическая), that was sort of a challenge I took upon myself. It's paired with a modern monospaced grotesque Aeroport Mono (Brownfox).
