xCoAx2014 Identity

The development of computational tools and media has been radically transforming the landscape for the practice of design, the arts and numerous cultural manifestations. Recognizing this, xCoAx is designed as a multi-disciplinary and nomadic enquiry on arts, computers, computation, communication and the elusive x factor that connects them all.
xCoAx is a forum for the exchange of ideas and the discovery of new and profitable synergies. It is an event exploring the frontiers of digital arts with the participation of a diverse confluence of computer scientists, media practitioners and theoreticians, that will focus on the relations between what can and cannot be computed, what can and cannot be communicated, what is beautiful and how humans and computational systems intersect in the development of new directions in aesthetics.

Logo
The identity for xCoAx2014 was inspired on moiré patterns. The X in the middle is the simplest possible, in order to give prominence to the pattern.
Several variations of the logo were made, showing a diversity of patterns.
Stickers displaying the date and URL of the conference. Digital print.
Postcard (front and back).

Postcard
In order to stand out from other postcards, including its predecessor, it was chosen a pure magenta backroung with a clean cut logo in the middle. The name, date and sponsors informations were discreetly laid out on the top and bottom of the postcard.
Details of the postcard, printed in offset.
A3 poster, to be digitally distributed and laser printed.

Poster
As an A3, this poster wouldn't stand out amongst others for its size. As in the postcard, a large portion is a pure magenta. However, to differentiate it further, it was opted to put the text information at an angle.
Here the hierarchy of text and image inverts, as the logo reduces and the text increases in size, to be read from afar.
