Introduction
This is a project we have a total of 4 weeks to design 5 props of a given set and then later make it in 3D.
(2 weeks for designing in 2D & 2 weeks for making it in 3D)
Everyone got a specific time period and prop set we had to make.
I personally got five Helmets in the time period of Art Nouveau.
For this assignment I made the 2D designs using Procreate
and made all the models using Blender.

I decided to give my models some colours to give them more life and character.
I am really happy with my end results and I am really happy I had the time to. give them some colour because I personally think it looks much better.

Work in progress
When modelling these helmets I had a really rough start, I days went by and it felt like I wasn't making any progress. Also a lot of things didn't work the way I wanted it to and it slowed my progress down a lot. But when I was halfway things started to get easier and I was making progress fast. I loved putting in the details because you could see how much better the models became. For these models I used the modifier Boolean a lot.
I must say that I was so happy this modifier exists because I couldn't have made those fine details without it.
In the end I decided to add some colours to my models to spice things up a bit and I am happy I did. I specifically love the color palette of the 5th model and I think its my absolute favourite of the bunch.
Detail Sketches
For this assignment I chose 5 very different designs with some elements that come back in almost every design.
(I chose to not draw the back of the helmets in the designs because I felt like the designs would't pop out. For that reason the designs may look like masks but they are helmets and they will have a back part.)
Silhouette Schetsen
For the silhouettes I made very different designs so I would have enough different designs to chose from. I made simple silhouette designs because I wanted to add the detail later. I first wanted a sense of what the BIG shape would look like and what kind of mask I would become and after I chose 5 I would then add the detail en final designs later.
Final Silhouettes
After I chose 5 designs I liked I started to bring more detail in them and making the designs more interesting. I aded a lot more MEDIUM and SMALL shapes to my designs.
(In the picture below you see the silhouettes I chose before I began giving them more attention and detail and how they look now for my final designs.)
Moodboard
For my moodboard ik chose to use a lot of pictures of items not related to helmets because I wanted to get a sense things I could use in my designs to make it more interesting. In the beginning I also aded some reference to helmets but not too much.
