Rift Hanger is a virtual reality climbing simulator using the Oculus Rift and an Xbox 360 controller. The goal is to get to the top as fast as possible. Or just take your time and enjoy the scenery. The player is free to walk around. Upon reaching the rock the player can climb the mountain by moving each arm with the left or right analog stick and then by holding the left or right trigger button of the Xbox controller. Letting go with both triggers results in the fall of the player. Thus the game gets increasingly more thrilling the higher the player gets. By using the Oculus Rift the player is free to look around and find a good path for his climb. The Oculus also provides amazing stereoscopic vision which is being taken advantage of by having a high detail rock mesh.

Rift Hanger was developed in about 2.5 weeks for the Oculus Rift VR Jam together with Roman Schmid. A prototype version of the game is scheduled to be released later this year.
