Cats have always been very interesting to me. I had cats growing up, one of which was with us for as long as I could remember until she died when I was 19; my freshman year in university. The way cats look at you like they possess an untold amount of wisdom about the world and life is so great.

For this illustration, I googled cats for reference, laid down a sketch in Procreate, then tried to have fun with the texture of the fur. I wanted it to feel like a linocut or a woodcut, because I am very much inspired by woodcuts. I always use 100% black for the blacks in my illustration but I think I am going to experiment with using a lighter black and very dark reds and blues.
