NOLJA ! - HONOURS PROJECT
Thesis: Designing gender-neutral figurines for 3-5 year old children enhances
the opportunity for them to explore their creativity and imagination during fantasy play,
without gender limiting and holding them back.
Why are action figures for boys and dolls for girls? This project challenges this notion through 3 gender-neutral figurines each with their own unique joint design system. The predominant use of yellow and orange colours denote neither a ‘boy’s’ or ‘girl’s’ toy and the ambiguous features and interchangeable accessories allow for multiple character combinations.
