This little project relates to the origins of my last name.
Which can be traced to a little town in the shores of Dniester River, in the Ternopil Oblast, Ukraine.

There lays Zalishchyky, town that changed hands regularly through history.
It has been part of the Austro Hungarian Empire, the Lithuanian-Polish Commonwealth, the Russian Empire, the Nazi Empire, the Soviet Union, and finally became a part of Ukraine's territory in its independence.

According to what we now know, around late XIXth century, early XXth, my ancestors escaped the persecutions against jewish families, arriving to Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Sometime in this hustle, their last name swapped with their city of origin.
Thus transforming Zalishchyky into Salischiker, which translates as 'From Salischik'.
A little homage to my family's ancestry and origins.
