Design for Diversity - "One in the Same" Interactive Installation.
About two weeks ago I was given the opportunity to participate in the Design for Diversity workshop hosted by OCAD University and coordinated by Job Rutgers and Sarngsan na soontorn . In collaboration with ENSCI - Les Ateliers design students we were encouraged to look at cultural diversity within France and Canada, understand and research in-depth the complex cultural fabric both societies are made of, and design meaningful and mutually beneficial experiences. As a team, Japjot Singh, Khalid Hassan, and I designed an interactive installation called "One in the Same". Above is a graphic to display a summary of our research, process, and a final piece which we presented to a panel of designers at the end of the week.
I have always been one to struggle with imposter syndrome within my practice. To counter these feelings I have been trying to apply to opportunities to force myself to step outside my comfort zone creatively and surround myself with other creatives alike myself and in differing fields. I am extremely thankful for this opportunity and looking forward to participating in similar workshops in the near future.
