Daphne Diptych:

Alcohol Markers on Mix Media Paper / Gouache on Clayboard 

Inspired by the timelessness of Greek Mythology, I created two pieces based on the tree nymph Daphne. The first was to test new alcohol markers, the simplified trees and leaves juxtaposed to the more realistic portrait of Daphne. For the second piece I created the background as a test to see if gouache could be used on clayboard. For my Illustration I final, I revisited the myth of Daphne and decided to give Daphne a more expressive, dynamic pose. I layered more gouache onto the pre-composed, abstract background that was already on the clayboard.
