Mathaa is a traditional bride price negotiation ceremony in the Kamba community of Kenya. The illustration was meant to depict the events that usually occur during the ceremony.

The highlight of the ceremony is when the groom to be, is supposed to unveil his wife to be who will have been completely covered using a 'leso'. This sounds like a simple task only that it's not. Just like the bride, 3-5 other girls with the same height and physical outlook are covered in a similar manner and the groom is supposed to correctly pick out his wife to be from the group.
