The overall idea behind the Design Jam brief is to insight the mind with design thinking methods namely the use of investigation, reflection, Interpretation, reframe, Ideate, and Iterate. In this instance we were tasked to identify problems within regards to the topic Pambazuka Afrika, which ideally is the problems we deal with in Africa. 

We set out a goal for ourselves to roll out a campaign that would reduce some of the water hyacinth growing in and around the banks of the hartbeespoort dam. We wanted our strategy to be community based so we thought of people collecting hyacinth at collection points near the hartbeespoort dam. 

Firstly, we needed to create something that an audience between the ages of 16+ living in the rural areas around the hartbeesport dam would find fascinating. To entice our audience, we came up with the idea to show the many benefits of hyacinth. We sat back, did our research, and began creating Instagram posts, posters and a step-by-step guide website on how to best use hyacinth.

The Instagram posts follow the same theme as the website. The user would read the did you know section on the post and read the description to follow a link that would lead them to the website. The idea behind the arrow in the design is meant to a symbol of the saying, "Keep pushing forward, there are endless possibilities." Which reverts us back to our brand name, "Innovate with Hyacinth" we aim to insight possibilities and forward thinking using hyacinth.

We chose to use the colour blue because it is considered to beneficial to the mind and body the many benefits of hyacinth deals with mind and body .The colour blue is also the most common colour used to represent water.

The website is meant to be your one stop guide on how to use hyacinth and it has a google map pin for the location to collect some hyacinth.
