In looking for a book to illustrate and make into an ebook, I chose The Sugar Creek Gang Digs for Treasure because I believe that the Sugar Creek Gang series does a far better job than similar kinds of series in teaching biblical values and character traits. The copy that I have is cheaply made, and simple graphics and a better cover design makes my ebook more enjoyable to read.

Plot
The Sugar Creek Gang Digs for Treasure is one of a series of children’s books about the Sugar Creek Gang, a group of young boys in the early 20th century. Written from a distinctly Christian perspective, each book in the series depicts the value of obeying and respecting parents and others in authority while having fun. The main character is Bill Collins. In this book, his main companions are Poetry (a roly-poly boy given to poetry), Dragonfly (who is allergic to many things and is always sneezing), and Little Jim (so called because Big Jim is also a part of the gang). While on a camping trip, these boys decide to play Robinson Crusoe. During their play, they find a letter, written in invisible ink, that turns out to be a treasure map leading to ransom money. Over the next two days the boys seek to find the money, trying to avoid being seen by John Till, the man who hid it. By the end of the book, they find the money...sewn into several large fish! The story, however, is not resumed until the next book.
