This project was begun with the master planning of the sloped east section of The Arboretum park in Lincoln. This was a group project. My site was then located within the master plan. My building is a community centre aiming to improve health, integration and employability within the deprived Monks Road area. The module was focused on sustainable design. I focused on glulam construction and passive solar design. By using glulam I was ensuring a lower carbon footprint than if steel or concrete was used. By using glass and extensive shading techniques I was ensuring a lower need for mechanical or electrical climate control within the building, allowing less energy consumption.
