Illustration No. 03: "Tandang Begonia", called in Tagalog/Filipino, is a flowering plant that has flowers measuring approximately 2 cm in total length/width. It is a Philippine native plant enlisted as Vulnerable (DAO 2017-11). Painting this species led me to meet Dr. Rubite, a Filipina botanist who was one of its researchers. From then on, I realized the possibility of promoting and conserving native flora and fauna through the arts can be real for someone like me.
