Business Card Project

Business Cards
Introduction
This is a project I made for my typography class at BYU-I. We were assigned to make a business card for ourselves using only typography and 2-3 spot colors. The typeface on the entire card had to be the same throughout, only changing the font and style. One of the biggest tasks was to make our names grab attention by using our chosen typeface in a creative way.

Front
For my business card, I decided sticking with Mr. Eaves as my typeface throughout the canvas. It took me a long time to finally decide on one style, but I chose this for the professional, yet simple look. Having no serifs allowed me to kern and track out the letters in my name across the page. I mostly used center alignments in this card, except for "graphic designer" because I felt it fit well isolated in the corner.

Back
I kept the back of my card simple in the end even though I had tried fun things like patterns using the initials in my name across the entire back. Using an "A" and "B", I merged the letters together to create a shape that aligned with each other. This creates a fun, but professional look to the business card.

Color
I chose an analogous color scheme using greens and blues. My reasons for choosing this group was because it is not too harsh on the eye like a complimentary color scheme would be, but it still incorporates an attractive sight.

Conclusion
Some of the biggest issues I had to face where making the blues and greens distinct colors that would not have to each fight for attention. It was difficult when I had it down and then turned them all into spot colors. I could not get them back to the original colors I had and learned to adjust. This project was exciting for me because it helped me learn more about typography as I created something for myself to possibly use in the near future.
