Lettermark Noun Project

For this project the intent was to hand bind a 32 page booklet. I would need design it around the noun "foot", taking the word and finding representations that stem from it. Using my mind map I was able to find many different variations to help construct a booklet not just on human feet, but in other aspects as well. To see all the photos I used in full color you can find them here on my dropmark.
Cover and spine shot of finalized booklet.
Mind map creation. Each with initial ideas that I branched out from.
On the left are my "rough" versions of sketch ideas I wanted to use for my letter mark. The right are the top 3 that I chose to clean up.
A full spread layout of all the pages in the booklet. This was created in Adobe InDesign. Each photo was grayscale and turned into .tiff files. We were limited to choosing only 2 ink colors. My picks were purple and black.
Using a speedball kit I was able to carve out my letter mark for stamping. I traced over my final letter mark with pencil and tracing paper then imposed it on the pink pad so I could have guide lines while carving.
For this project we were to hand bind the booklet ourselves. Here is a shot taken during the process.
Here are shots taken of first page of the booklet and further in on pages 8 & 9.
Since you do not have a physical copy I used flipsnack as a way to share and simulate you flipping through the inside of my booklet.
