BONDAREV APARTMENTS

The flat is located on the top floor of M. P. Kudryavtseva's revenue house, built in 1874, in the centre of St. Petersburg. The owner of the apartment is a famous St. Petersburg artist Sergei Bondarev.

The apartment has many historical details: the original ceiling, its decorative cornices, doors and authentic time-worn stoves which were an integral part of the entire project and were taken into consideration during the working process. The interior design reflects this important heritage. All the tie-ins and dimensions were made
in relation to the retained interior elements.

The layout of the flat was changed. The main planning goal was to create a large bright living space and open up the view from the living area to a row of window openings.
The central axis is set by the partition, which acts as "canvas" for an artist, and also zones the bedroom, that located on the other side of this living space . With the help of sliding curtains, the partition and the sleeping place can be hidden while receiving guests.

The living room is organised around a massive table, which, being the dominant volume, unites different zones and creates a connection between them.
The window jambs and furniture are made of tinted oak veneer, which gives the interior a warm and cosy atmosphere. The materials palette is completed by white handmade ceramic tiles which are used to cover the kitchen island and the apron.
