After the internet started exploding with new musical ideas in the late months of 2020, I decided to combine my love of theater and design and join the fun! After I drew up the design concepts for the Bridgerton musical, I started to think about what other medias and characters I'd like to see on stage. Nancy Drew seemed like the obvious answer.
For this fictional show, I wanted to modernize and age Nancy up. Many of the shows on Broadway in the last couple years are using nostalgic characters and targeting younger people than the past, so a 21st century college-aged Nancy seemed like the perfect fit.
I wanted the design to be fun and eye catching. I was inspired by the idea of a billboard in a public area of a college campus. A small space crowded with many flyers trying to grab and hold your attention. The colors are bold but still a nod to a vintage pallet.
