Feeling a sense of creative absence, I began searching for inspiration in new material. I’ve always been inspired by Gothic architecture and the constructs of churches encompassing its art. I found that the fine details of the early Middle Ages are what drives the conversation between art and religion, and ultimately bringing these stories to life. This led me to discover other areas such as Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Indigenous Mexican Art, Dravidian architecture, Greek and Roman history, and the Nagara style.

During my time creating this project I found myself looking Inward. I was able to explore my ‘DarkSide’, thus translating that into my art. Fitting to the themes of the gothic genre, there was a sense of unknown to where the process would take me and ultimately diving into the deep, blind.

Through this I found myself learning new techniques, mediums, and developing a deeper layer of confidence in my art.
