PALASH FLORALS
To reinvent the traditional clothing of my community 'Kharia', I decided to take some elements from my nostalgia of visiting hometown.

Palash flower trees blazes the scenery of my village in summers. They are bright orange flowers, which leaves a mark if rubbed on cloth. We as children were cautioned not stain ourselves with them.
Using these flowers for prints is a metaphor to those younger times when we used to throw palash flowers at each other for play.

Enveloping the traditional crafts, incorporating the nostalgia from the past, and adding a contemporary touch. Henceforth, giving the whole new indigenous experience. The aim is to create an identity through prints for fashion.

My design process starts with drawing as many variations of the inspiration to have elements to play with in prints. Below are the drawn/painted elements for the same.
Elements are composed to make print ready patterns

Thank you!
