Illustrating the decay and illusion of the american dream. A crumbling roman empire esque unattainable idea advertised to us for decades.

The idea for the illustration was to visualize the American dream simplified down to an average 2-3 bedroom house engulfed in the flames of lady liberty's torch, and being displayed on a Greco Roman esque decorative plate. Greek pottery often depicted scenes of mythology and legends illustrated on the face, telling stories of valor and tragedy to sell and advertise. In our case, the American dream is a tragic mythology we're advertised and drip fed to chase upon entering the world. With no end in sight. That plate is now cracking and breaking more as the years have passed on with further wealth inequality, systematic racism, limited opportunity of education, and wages not being sustainable to the cost of living. In 21st century America, the American dream is a façade and has been nothing more than mythological fairy tale only accessible to those who are lucky enough to be set up to achieve it.
