Ethical Sector Rebranding

Background
This is a rebranding project I carried out for, Ethical Sector, a small creative agency in Dublin, Ireland.  Ethical Sector’s focus is on non-profit and not-just-for-profit organizations and the logo and branding needed to reflect that the studio does high-quality creative work, it also shares its clients’ values.  Ethical Sector is unique in providing a full suite of creative services to organizations that might not otherwise have access to them.

I creatively directed this project, as well as carrying out the graphic design.  In rebranding the company, the trading name was changed from Ethical Sector Communications to ‘Ethical Sector.’  As well as identity redesign, I created various pieces of collateral for the company, from business cards and letterhead to the nameplate on the building.  In wrapping up the first stage of the rebranding, I created a set of guidelines for internal use.

Forthcoming pieces of the rebranding process include a new website for the company, a video promo and a motion-graphic video bumper.

Rory Sturdy, Ethical Sector’s director, wanted a logotype that illustrates his and the company’s commitment to let clients help those most in need.

The rounded forms of the lowercase type embody Ethical Sector’s warm, approachable demeanour, while the weight conveys solidity and strength, reflecting the company’s firm dedication to support its client.  The smaller ‘e’ in the circle at the start of ‘ethical’ works as a mark for the company, in certain contexts, and shows that ‘ethical’ is at the heart of its mission.
