Chronophotography
Chronophotography is a photographic technique from the Victorina era which captured the phases of movement. It was used in the student of movement mainly being the scientific study of locomotion as well as the movement of people and animals too. This was also the start of the devilment of film.
When talking about Chronophotography two names are always mentioned in reference to this. First being.

Etienne-Jules Marey:
He was one of if not the first to every use this technique, however he did invent something to help with his ideas. The chronographic gun is what he created, it was capable of shooting 12 frames a second with all the frames recorded into one photograph, he used this as a way to study the movement of all kinds of animals, this was references as his animated zoo, but also for the locomotion of people
Eadweard Muybridge:
Eadweard was another famous Chronophotographer how he was fmaous for trying to prove one simple fact, the fact that when a horse runs at some point all four of its feet was off the ground at the same time. He spent a lot of his time trying to prove this fact and he finally did and by doing this he wanted to extend his work across with other animals and their movements.
