Installation for the City of Toronto's Temporary Parklet Design Build Competition along King Street

Swing stages are used typically for the restoration and maintenance of building exteriors. In this proposal, Swing Stage is a reflection of the perpetual reconstruction of our city. While they are temporary, they remind us of our ever-changing urban landscape.
The parklet design uses this language of temporary construction materials to create a welcoming, fun and interactive space for the enjoyment of the passersby. The design proposes two constrained bench swings and one rigid bench as a place to facilitate gathering and rest. The wooden platform conforms to the urban curb lane context providing easy access from the sidewalk for all ages and abilities.
