This is a report that provides a brief introduction of Reddit and performs a heuristical evaluation on the Reddit desktop application using Jacob Nielsen’s 10 Heuristics for User Interface Design framework. Results from this analysis show that while Reddit provides a flexible, efficient system with room for users to exercise control and freedom over their use of the platform, Reddit lacks consistency and error recovery options. With a couple fixes as outlined by several recommendations, Reddit can improve its interface to provide a more aesthetic, consistent, error friendly platform for all users, making it a powerful, easy to use tool to find popular content from the internet.
