Pride 2020
In 2020 I created an 8-part series of Pride-related illustrations. I was inspired by the original rainbow flag designed by Gilbert Baker in 1978.
While the modern, popular version of the flag has only 6 colors, Baker's original design consisted of 8 colours, including the now missing pink, indigo and turquoise. Every one of the eight colours also had a distinct meaning to them, assigned by Baker.
🌷 Pink is for sexuality. 💗
🌹 Red is for life. ❤️
🧡 Orange is for healing. 🍊
💛 Yellow is for sunlight. 🌞
🌱 Green is for nature. 💚
🦋 Turquoise is for magic and art. 🐬
💙 Indigo is for serenity. 🌀
🦋 Violet is for spirit. 😈
