Short story of the Csepel G.E. (meaning in Hungarian: Machine Man), according to personal Mythology
In 1962, two years after the Moscow Economy Fair, the first plant to deal with robotics, called the 'Hungarian Plant for Robotics' has been established as a result of the cooperation between the two factories Csepel and Tungsram. Within the framework of the Five-year Plan, the factory Csepel gave home to this extraordinary and grandiose business. All the greatest scientists, engineers, and mechanical experts of the mighty Soviet Union came to Hungary in order to serve as a support for the
excellent scientist of our Homeland, János Neumann. Their goal was to establish the first self-moving machine. This plan was most commonly referred to that time as A/15 until the Working Robot (1965) has been uncovered, which served as a real breakthrough in the field of robotics. For a moment, the whole world was listening to us that time. The Working Robot was not more than a digging machine driven by a punchcard which could not be used for anything else, however, it was highly noticeable how this masterly mechanism fascinated and impressed its onlookers. In 1965, the Hungarian Plan for Robotics received another order, which was to develop a robot
man which is able to teach the people that are looking at him. This is when the first teaching machines came to life: the Chess Machine, the Dancing Machine, the Marching Machine, the Saluting Machine, and many others for other purposes. It was the Gymnastics Robot of Csepel G.E. for which a production line has been first established. Due to market overflow as well as cheaper Chinese
robots and spare parts, the production line got demolished in 1982, and from then on only a few replacement parts have been produced for export. It is a real shame that today, only one remaining reconstructed peace exists in private hands.

1962-ben, két évvel a Moszkvai Gazdasági Kiálltás után, a Csepel és a Tungsram gyárak összefogásában jött létre az első robotikával foglalkozó üzem, azaz a Magyar Robotikai Vállalat. Az ötéves terv keretén belül a Csepel művek adott otthont ennek a nagyszerű és grandiózus vállalkozásnak. A legkiválóbb tudósok, mérnökök és gépészek serege érkezett hazánkba a dicső Szovjetunió majd mindegyik tagországából, hogy segítségére legyen hazánk szülöttjének, Neumann János kiváló tudósnak. Ők szerették volna létrehozni az első működőképes, önjáró gépezetet. Ezt a tervet sokáig csak A/15 ként említették, míg le nem leplezték a Munkarobotot (1965), ami nagy áttörést jelentett a robotika terén. Ebben az időben egy pillanatra az egész világ ránk figyelt. A Munkarobot nem volt más, mint egy lyukkártyával vezérelt ásógép, ami árokásáson kívül semmire nem volt használható, viszont felfigyeltek rá, hogy az embereket szinte megbabonázza, lenyűgözi ez a mesteri szerkezet. 1965-ben az MRV újabb megbízást kapott, fejlesszenek ki egy olyan robotembert ami képes tanítani az őt figyelő embereket. Ekkor születtek meg az első tanítógépek: sakkgép, táncgép, masírozó gép, szalutáló gép és egyéb felhasználásokra. A Csepel G.E. tornarobot volt az első, amire már gyártósort fejlesztettek, és több változatban is piacra került. A piac telítettsége és az olcsóbb kínai robotok és alkatrészek miatt a gyártósort 1982-ben leszerelték, és csak bizonyos alkatrészeket állítottak elő exportra. Sajnos mára csak egy működőképes, rekonstruált darab maradt fent Magyarországon, magántulajdonban.

Nel 1962, due anni dopo l’Esposizione Economica di Mosca, il primo impianto di robotica ungherese (semplicemente chiamato “Impianto di Robotica Ungherese”) venne fondato come risultato della cooperazione fra due aziende: Csepel e Tungsram. Nell’ambito del Piano quinquennale, le industrie Csepel divennero la sede ufficiale di questo straordinario e ambizioso progetto. Tutti i più grandi scienziati, ingegneri ed esperti meccanici accorsero in Ungheria da ogni parte della potente Unione Sovietica per dare supporto all’acclamato scienziato della nostra Patria, János Neumann. La loro missione era quella di assemblare la prima macchina capace di muoversi da sola. Questo progetto al tempo veniva comunemente chiamato A/15 fino al momento in cui il nome Robot Lavoratore non fu rivelato, rendendolo una vera rivelazione nel campo della robotica. Per un momento il mondo intero ci stava ascoltando. Il Robot Lavoratore non era altro che una macchina scavatrice azionata da una scheda perforata e si poteva usare solo per l’ammaraggio, ma questo meccanismo aveva affascinato chiunque lo vedesse. Nel 1965 l’ Impianto di Robotica Ungherese ricevette un altro ordine: creare un robot antropomorfo in grado di insegnare. È qui che le prime macchine da insegnamento vennero al mondo. Il robot da scacchi, il robot ballerino, il robot da marcia, il robot da saluto e molti altri tipi. La prima linea di produzione, ad esempio, fu quella del robot da ginnastica Csepel G.E., disponibile in varie versioni. A causa della troppa produzione e dell’offerta più economica di robot e pezzi di ricambio cinesi la produzione venne sospesa nel 1982, e da quel momento solo alcuni pezzi di ricambio vennero fabbricati per l’esportazione. Oggi, sfortunatamente, rimane solo un pezzo ricostruito di proprietà privata.
