Braun Hi-fi Headphones

This was a brand research project taken during an exchange semester at Hochshule für Gestaltung in Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany. Our task was to choose a Brand or company, research the company's values, products and design mentality then produce a product for that company.

The company I chose to design a product for was Braun. Under the head of Product design Dieter Rams in the 60s through to the 90s Braun produced some of the most influential and innovative product designs using their minimalistic design process. A product I was particularly interested in was the hi-fi headphones designed during the period where Braun was producing audio products, I though this would be a good product to apply to modern living and commuting in large cities.

Using the design principles of Dieter Rams I aimed to create a product which delivered high performance to users with being easily transportable for commuters.
The result was a pair of over head headphones that could be folded away easily into a small package good.

Precedent images: The product I wanted to design had to be sustainable like the pesonal wind turbine which won a Braun design award, for commuters and easily stored
