Aerial Anatomies
Experimental Film "Aerial Anatomies" Documented and directed by Ayesha M. Ali

This film was constructed after various cell studies in a lab. I dissected various plants, cross sections and vivi-sections of plants and my own blood sample/ spit sample and gum skin. The imagery that is seen is not of cells however paint and fluids were used to mimic the cells that I observed in microscope and in process they become a reality of living things, which cannot be seen. To document the idea of reality in a new way, I decided to use paint as my medium to create false images of cells, which have life to it. This highlights the fact that most of the information related to medical field and otherwise, that we find on net is fraud, photoshopped or manipulated to construct a form of truth for the society. The question “What is real?” remain unanswered.
I started off by translating cell images into colors of fluids and liquid paints to simulate the imagery.
