How do we support ourselves in 50 years, when there is no more oil to ship food products all around the world? The «green belt» is a concept for local food supply in cities.
This green belt surrounds the city. By means of aquapronics (fish farming combined with soil free crop farming), fresh food is grown in the city and for the city. In order to efficiently use the limited amount of space available in cities, greenhouses will be built skywards. Compared to traditional farming, only a fraction of space is used. At the same time, it provides recreational space for residents. Nature therefore is allowed to be nature again.
