It was amazing to see the perfection of a Short eared Owl's dive today in the Illinois prairie. It's so spectacular to see the pure form and speed in the dive when the owl attacks.... It's also very sad and unfortunate for the owls because many are killed by hunters, and or vehicle strikes when they are hunting.  Short eared owl's life span is only around 4 years.
