Villa de Requena is a small historic urban center characterized by a network of underground caves used for different purposes through time, like additional residential space, food storage, or wine cellars. Like caves excavate and shape the ground upon which Requena has been built, on the surface, streets and open spaces hollow out the highly dense and solid urban fabric.

The project redevelops a wine store and cellar occupying a small commercial space at the street level and the Christ cave underground. The project plays by the same ‘full and voids’ rules to reshape the store and relate to the context. The volumes (full) enclosed all the spaces dedicated to the merchandise, whereas the space in-between (void) ate dedicated to social events and leisure activities.
