Stymie is a slab serif typeface designed by Morris Fuller Benton in 1931. It is known by many characteristics attributed to slab serif fonts: it appears mostly monoweight, it has blocky slabs or flat endings on its terminals, and it has a vertical stress on its letters. However, there are many smaller characteristics that the average viewer might catch at first glance.
