Stymie Animation

Stymie is a slab serif typeface designed by Morris Fuller Benton in 1931. It is known by many characteristics attributed to slab serif fonts: it appears mostly monoweight, it has blocky slabs or flat endings on its terminals, and it has a vertical stress on its letters. However, there are many smaller characteristics that the average viewer might catch at first glance. So, for the typographic nerds who want to look deeper, or the average viewer who might just want to learn a bit more about a well-known font, this animation will teach you everything you need to know about Stymie.
