Midnight circles

Midnight circles are illuminators for parks, forests and places of nature in urban landscapes. Imagine hundreds of camp fires illuminating these places, giving you directions and light paths. The idea was to use this archetype to evoke feelings of safety, spirit of exploration and adventure and to call upon images of mythical places like fairy circles. They are designed to attract and create opportunities for people to communicate and socialize during night time. They are responsive to its surroundings. Sensors collect information about relationship of rhythm, movement, vibrations or mobile phone signals and environment and transform it into light. Density of visitors is represented trough medium of color. Thin solar cells placed in treetops will provide energy for night activities. This kind of interaction between nature and technology is in order to create spirit of the place and to inspire people explore and to create their own mythologies.
