"Walls"
A photo story depicting one day in the life of someone in extreme isolation during the 2020 pandemic. The walls that create our invisible boarders can be suffocating or offer a wide berth depending on our surroundings and public sphere.
The photos unedited for this project. Like everyone, I've been keeping to my house during the pandemic; but, I've been quarantined mostly to my room. I can go anywhere in the house but my room is my safe place. It's a surrounding that I have control over. I've created my own boarders and boundaries within my room, I hardly leave it during the day. I wanted to show how my day-to-day tends to go during the global pandemic without much change for the tomorrow.
I wanted to show a sense of fogginess/distortion. The pictures become more grainy and dark throughout the day, a depiction of wariness and mental exhaustion (even if it's from doing short of nothing.) I interviewed a therapist recently and he mentioned how many are abusing substances (ie nicotine, marijuana, alcohol, etc.), and wanted to depict that this may be an issue many are facing during the lock down.
The finished product. 'Walls' can be literal and figurative in meaning. Where someone can choose to leave their room when they want to, but instead seclude themselves further from the outside world.
